REBUILDING TOGETHER
METRO CHICAGO
EXTENDED SUMMER BRANDING PARTNERSHIP
THE BRIEF — In a continued partnership with Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago following my capstone, I extended the established brand system into three new deliverables — helping the organization build a more complete, event-ready identity that could flex from a fall gala to a community repair day without losing cohesion.
STEP 1
STYLESCAPE
I continued from the spring capstone stylescape rooted in Russian Constructivism, bold geometry, functionality, and social impact as the visual foundation

STEP 2
PAINT THE TOWN LOGO
Designed the Paint the Town fall gala logo in vertical (primary) and horizontal (tight-application) formats. The logos are a sleek, upscale interpretation of their visual language rooted in the national light green and black palette, balancing a distinct event identity with a clear connection to the core brand
INITIAL SPARKS TO FINAL MARKS
Explored brush-inspired concepts; refined through two rounds; final direction selected incorporating the Chicago skyline into the paintbrush with gradient removed and primary green updated.
STEP 3
GENERAL SOCIAL MEDIA TEMPLATES
The client requested a set of easily updatable, templates that can be utilized for relaying general organization news. The set includes:
-
One two-post carousel for text-heavy relevant research/grant information
-
One photo-based 'thank you' post for company sponsor event days
-
Two logo-based 'thank you' follow-up posts to conclude annual events (ie Paint the Town, National Rebuilding Day, etc.)
A key consideration is that sponsors may provide non-transparent logos, so the design should feature a background that still looks visually appealing with these types of logos. The templates should be versatile, aligned with the client's branding, improve social media longevity, and be easily adaptable for various occasions.
STEP 4
MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY LOGO
The final element of the summer project suite was the logo for their annual repair-based Make a Difference Day event held every October. Given the two prior logos created for the organization, a substantial priority heading into the project was to stay true to Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago's main brand identity while also creating a distinct sub-identity for this fall-based repair event.
The design should include:
-
The Rebuilding Together star, and potentially the roof line in some way.
-
Stick to the primary brand colors (light green and black).
Designed the Make a Difference Day event logo — integrated the Rebuilding Together star into the counter of the "R," letting the typography stand alone while maintaining strong brand connection.
Explored helping hands, star, and roofline concepts; Round 2 showed volunteers actively repairing the roofline; final mark refined from option 2.2
