PROJECT OVERVIEW
En lo Cotidiano is an illustration commissioned by a Dominican University professor for use in a guest theology lecture at DePaul University. The piece was created to visually support and enrich a presentation on Abuelita Theology—a framework that centers on the everyday spiritual wisdom, resilience, grass root traditions, and leadership of matriarchal figures in Latinx communities.

Drawing from personal reflections and cultural memory, the illustration honors the quiet, yet powerful, theological influence passed down through generations of women. It highlights the sacredness found in daily life—through gestures, traditions, storytelling, and care—and pays tribute to the often-overlooked roles that abuelitas, madres, and tias play as spiritual guides, cultural stewards, and sources of generational strength.
Visually, the piece blends symbolic elements with intimate, domestic imagery to reflect the intersections of faith, identity, and lived experience. En lo Cotidiano invites viewers to recognize and revalue the divine wisdom rooted not in institutions, but in the everyday lives of the women who shape us.
