Date

Fall 2023

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator

Project Brief:
Students were provided with a 3-paged document listing our Performing Arts Center's season calendar and relevant information (parking, directions, tickets, etc.). We had to come up with an image that relates to the Performing Arts Center or theater in general. I decided on utilizing the secondary information in the curtains. Through utilizing a variety of font weights, I was able to build visual texture in the curtains. My goal was to draw in viewers with the curtains, which would then lead them to reading the titles of the upcoming performances.

This stylescape is inspired by Russian Constructivism, a movement that emphasized bold, geometric design and functionality for social change. For Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago, we’ve adapted these principles to communicate their mission of revitalizing communities with a dynamic, purpose-driven aestheticfocusing on impact, unity, and transformation through strong colors and modern, functional design.

BOTB LOGO

The client requested a logo for their annual "Battle of the Bands" fundraising event, aiming for a design that stood apart yet still connected to their main logo. The logo features an expanded color palette with more of their secondary brand colors, along with a grungy, rough-edged aesthetic to capture the event’s energy while maintaining a connection to their primary logo through the use of geometric shapes and color blocking.

Early Design Variants

Exploring Color Variants

Social Media Templates

Project Brief:

The client requested a set of social media templates that can be easily updated each year. The set includes:

  1. A template to showcase the bands' names.

  2. Two variants to add sponsor logos.

  3. Have information about the event (date/address) on both templates.

A key consideration is that sponsors might provide non-transparent logos, so the design should feature a background that still looks visually appealing with these types of logos. The templates should be versatile, aligned with the client's branding, and easily adaptable for future events.

Vehicle Wrap

Project Brief:

The client requested a van wrap design that creatively incorporates their logo, with the idea of splitting it up to wrap around the van. They preferred to stick to their primary brand colors to maintain consistency with their national brand. The design should also include various contact methods, including a QR code, and feature their mission statement to clearly communicate their values and make it easy for potential customers to connect. The wrap should be eye-catching, professional, and align with Rebuilding Together brand standards.

Event Pamphlet

Project Brief:

To strengthen community engagement and streamline communication, this project introduces a cohesive and visually engaging pamphlet that replaces the organization's previous system of multiple flyers. The new design brings together all essential information for prospective volunteers into a single, accessible format—highlighting Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago's mission to repair homes, revitalize communities, and rebuild lives. With a clear, inviting layout and impactful storytelling, this pamphlet aims to make it easier for prospective volunteers to connect with the mission and take action through service.
